Zambia national football team to play out of Lusaka, as Heroes Stadium has been declared unfit to host any CAF sanctioned match.

According to a list of Stadia seen by Zambia Monitor on Monday, Heroes Stadium is not part of the official stadium.

Only Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa stadium is appearing with no reasons advanced for leaving out Heroes Stadium.

Zambia is scheduled to face Ivory Coast at Levy Mwanawasa, which hosted Lesotho where the Zambian men squad won back-to-back.

The news seems to be a set-back as Zambia bids to host the 2025 AFCON whose success will depend on the quality of its football infrastructure.

South Africa, according to the listed official stadia, beats all as it has a record seven approved football pitches followed by Algeria and Egypt at five.

Neighbouring Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Mozambique stand at one approved pitch.

Zimbabwe, Botswana, Benin, Bukina  Faso, Sierra Leone and Namibia are some of the countries in Africa whose team will be playing outside the country when hosting CAF sanctioned games.
