Police in Lusaka have arrested a G Force Security guard, Martin Liswani, 42, for allegedly threatening to shoot a 35-year-old woman, Elizabeth Mufolo, in Mtendere.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, in a statement issued on Monday, said the incident occurred on Sunday around 13:00 hours and was reported to Mtendere Police Station at 14:25 hours.
According to Hamoonga, Mufolo and her elder sister were walking to the market when they intervened in a fight involving children.
Following this, an unidentified man in a G Force Security uniform reportedly emerged from a nearby yard and, without provocation, threatened Mufolo with a pistol.
Police officers who responded to the report found Liswani already apprehended by community members.
A Luger pistol with three rounds of ammunition was recovered from the suspect.
Liswani, a resident of Mtendere, is currently detained in police custody, with a case docket opened as investigations continue.
Hamoonga commended community members for their swift action and cooperation with law enforcement, underscoring the Zambia Police Service’s commitment to public safety.
“The Zambia Police Service remains steadfast in ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and reiterates its zero-tolerance policy toward acts of violence and threats to public safety,” he stated.
Liswani is expected to appear in court once investigations are concluded.
