Patriots for Economic Progress leader, Sean Tembo, has joined calls for government to show paper trail in the transaction of the over K65million forfeited to the state by Faith Musonda, which is reported to have gone missing.
Tembo has argued that when conducting an audit, the issues raised in a Draft Management Letter are not final, and some of them are often explained away or audit evidence is provided to deny the draft findings.
He made the call in a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday.
Tembo said the statement from the Minister of Finance and National Planning Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane does not indicate on what date specifically the said bank accounts were opened, the name of the financial institution where these bank accounts were opened.
“The statement does not also state the specific account numbers in question because when one is doing a forensic audit, one of the things to look out for are broad statements which are not specific and which are incapable of reconfirmation,” he said.
Tembo said a specific statement would constitute audit evidence but so far, the Ministry’s explanation is empty and not convincing.

He accused President Hakainde Hichilema of knowing about the missing K65 million and being involved in the plot to cover up the scandal.
“Also, the fact that Police Headquarters was used to cast aspersions on the local newspaper, its Managing Editor and Reporter is evidence that someone high up in government is involved in the missing K65 million and the plot to cover up the scandal. Someone high enough to use Police Headquarters to harass the local newspaper that broke the story. Someone in charge of the Police. Someone like the President,” Tembo said.
