Zambia and Namibia have signed a Bilateral Road Transport Agreement to provide for use of Consignment Note by road transport operators.

It stated that the Consignment Note was designed for use by Zambian road transport operators that traverse foreign territories and this document shall not require any endorsement or stamp by the RTSA.

RTSA said this on Saturday in a public notice issued by the public relations unit.

“The RTSA wishes to inform all transporters that the Bilateral Road Transport Agreement signed by the Republic of Zambia and Namibia provides for use of Consignment Note by road transport operators that traverse the territories of respective foreign countries,” it stated.

Further, RTSA indicated, the standard permit conditions on the Cross Border Permits (CBP) prescribe that the original permit and Consignment Note would be carried on the vehicle carrying the goods and on demand shall be shown to the appropriate authorities.

“Similarly, vehicle license (Road Tax) that is printed on plain paper will be mutually recognised,” RTSA indicated.
