Kanchibiya Constituency Member of Parliament, Sunday Chanda, has called on Zambians to reject populism and insist on issue-based leadership in the 2026 general elections, emphasizing that “Zambians deserve better.”

In a statement issued on Sunday, Chanda urged citizens to hold leaders accountable for presenting concrete and realistic development plans, rather than making empty promises.

“The next elections must be a referendum on ideas, not personalities. Leaders must present clear, coherent, and well-researched development plans. Empty promises should be met with firm resistance.

“Citizens must insist on roadmaps with timelines, targets, and accountability measures,” Chanda stated.

He added that Zambia’s prosperity lies in embracing reform, courage, and discipline, urging citizens to focus on pragmatic solutions over political theatrics.

“Our challenges are well known, and our solutions are within reach. What remains is for citizens to demand the substance required to transform rhetoric into reality. Leaders must think beyond election cycles and listen to the people they serve,” he said.

Chanda stressed the need for measurable goals and sustainable development plans at all levels of government, saying that Zambians must demand leaders with the foresight and resolve to address the root causes of national challenges.

“As 2026 approaches, it is time for Zambians to raise the bar and insist on leaders who bring more than charisma to the table. We need leaders with a clear plan, measurable goals, and a commitment to sustainable development,” he stated.
