Red Arrows set for clash against Nyasa Big Bullets in CAF Champions league preliminary round

Red Arrows, the reigning Zambian champions, are gearing up for a crucial encounter against Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets in the 1st Preliminary Round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League 2024/25.

The draw, which took place in Cairo, Egypt, had set the stage for a two-legged battle scheduled between August 16th and 25th.

If Red Arrows triumph over Nyasa Big Bullets, they would face off against TP Mazembe, giants from the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the 2nd Preliminary Round in September.

This progression hinges on their performance in the upcoming matches.

In a recent CECAFA Invitational tournament fixture in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, Red Arrows secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Kenya’s Gor Mahia FC.

Veteran striker James Chamanga, coming off the bench, scored the decisive goal in the 76th minute, with an assist from Saddam Yusuf Phiri.

This win catapults Red Arrows to second place in their group, tied on points with Al Halal of Sudan but trailing on goal difference.

Their next challenge is a showdown against group leaders Al Halal on July 13, followed by a decisive match against Djibouti Telecom next week.

The stakes are high as each group’s leader qualifies directly for the semifinals, with the third-best team from all groups also earning a spot.

Red Arrows are determined to capitalise on their current form and make a strong push towards the Champions League finals.
