Red Arrows rebound to secure CECAFA semi-final spot with 1-0 victory over Djibouti telecom

Zambian champions, Red Arrows, have bounced back from their 5-0 defeat by Sudanese club Al Hilal, beating Djibouti Telecom in the ongoing CECAFA Invitational Tournament in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Airmen secured their place in the semi-final stage with a narrow 1-0 victory.

Anthony Shipanuka scored the decisive goal from a Geoffrey Ngwenya corner in the 21st minute.

Red Arrows nearly doubled their lead, but a Saddam Yusuf Phiri goal was ruled offside with eight minutes remaining.

This win marks a significant improvement from their previous heavy loss.

Red Arrows will face Al Wadi of Sudan this Friday for a place in the final.

The regional tournament is sponsored by the Sudan Football Association, Dar Port through the Tanzania Ports Authority, Azam TV and Rwanda President Paul Kagame.

The champions will receive US$30,000, the runner-up US$20,000, and the third-placed team US$10,000.
