Rail traffic accident reported in Mpika district, police yet to reveal casualties

Police in Mpika District of Muchinga Province have reported a rail traffic accident involving a Tazara passenger train and a Likili public service bus.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, confirmed the accident in a statement issued in Lusaka on Sunday.

Mwale said the accident occurred on Sunday around 13:00 hours at Kabuka Railway crossing point in Mpika District.

“Initial investigations revealed that the bus hit into the passenger train bearing number M22,” he said.

Mwale said Police officers are currently at the scene of the accident.

“The state of the passengers on both the train and the bus is yet to be ascertained,” he said.
