President Hakainde Hichilema has called on the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to consider supporting Zambia’s economic growth agenda by investing in technology and innovation, particularly in critical sectors such as agriculture and energy.

During a meeting in Japan with JICA and the Japan Organisation for Metals and Energy (JOMEC), led by Presidents Dr. Tanaka Akihiko and Ichiro Takahara, President Hichilema specifically requested JICA’s support in acquiring technology to address Lusaka’s drainage challenges.

The President acknowledged JOMEC’s ongoing progress in mineral exploration in Zambia and expressed hope that their geophysical mapping efforts would play a role in curbing illegal mining activities.

“This morning, we had the honor of meeting with delegations from JICA and JOMEC. We expressed our gratitude to JICA for their continued support to Zambia across various sectors over the years,” President Hichilema said.
