Hakainde Hichilema, the Presidency has said, is slated to deliver a keynote address on behalf of the African Group of Negotiators on Climate Change (AGN).
This will take place at the ongoing United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), taking place in United Arab Emirates.
State House Chief Communications Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, made this known on Thursday in Lusaka.
He noted that the alliance, formed during COP1 in Berlin in 1995, comprised African member states representing the continent’s interests in global climate change negotiations.
“The Head of State will also participate in a moderated Round Table discussion at the High-Level Stake Presidential Event, organized by AUDA-NEPAD and AGRA, focusing on leveraging investment for climate adaptation through Food Systems Transformation,” Hamasaka said.
He added that Hichilema was expected to also attend the Commonwealth Royal Reception, marking the launch of the inaugural Business and Philanthropy Climate Forum by Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland.

“Further engagements include bilateral discussions with French President His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, Chinese Vice Premier Cheng We-tsan,” Hamasaka said.
He stated that the Head of State would also meet United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, accompanied by the African Group of Negotiators.
Other itinerary includes presence at the launch of the Critical Materials Club by Ursula von der Leyen, European Commission President.
Hamasaka indicated that the Head of State would also meet several Captains of Industry, Business Leaders and potential Investors.
