President Hichilema fires education permanent secretary, Kamoko, following controversial television appearance

President Hakainde Hichilema has dismissed Education Permanent Secretary, Joe Kamoko, with immediate effect, following a controversial appearance on ZNBC.

Kamoko, who had been a prominent former union leader, appeared intoxicated during a news segment on Sunday, sparking concerns among stakeholders.

In a statement released on Tuesday by State House Chief Communication Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, the termination of Kamoko’s contract as Permanent Secretary for Education in charge of Technical Services was confirmed.

“The decision to terminate the contract is in accordance with Article 270 of the Constitution of Zambia,” said Hamasaka.

“The President has thanked Mr. Kamoko for his service to the government and wishes him well in his future endeavors.”

The President also urged all public officers to serve diligently and with dedication to national duties.
