President Hakainde Hichilema has urged collaboration between key African organizations, including the African Union Development Agency (AUDA), African Development Bank (AfDB), and African Export-Import Bank (AfriExim), to enhance regional infrastructure connectivity.

During the 42nd AUDA-NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation virtual meeting, President Hichilema highlighted the importance of infrastructure development, with a particular focus on the Lobito Corridor and TAZARA rail line.

He emphasized the role of AUDA in advancing the goals of Agenda 2063 and advocated for Africa’s energy self-sufficiency through expanded generation and transmission interconnectors.

In addition to infrastructure, the President updated the meeting on Zambia’s preparations to host the 2025 WorldSkills Africa Competition and Conference, a significant milestone for the country.

While initially scheduled for April, the event was postponed due to impact of drought in the region, with new dates to be announced later.

The WorldSkills Africa capacity-building programme would also take place in Zambia, supported by German Development Cooperation.

The President’s commitment to skills training received praise from fellow leaders, including Presidents Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi and Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal.

Key Zambian officials, including Finance Minister Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, Foreign Affairs Minister Mulambo Haimbe, and Science and Technology Minister Felix Mutati, also attended the virtual meeting.
