President Hakainde Hichilema has urged government agencies in Zambia and Egypt to expedite the implementation of agreements signed during his state visit, removing bureaucratic obstacles.
The visit, which concluded on Tuesday, saw Zambia and Egypt sign several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation in infrastructure development, covering projects such as roads, bridges, and urban development.
In a post on his Facebook page after the visit, President Hichilema emphasized that fast-tracking these projects would create jobs and opportunities for Zambian citizens, particularly the youth.
“As part of winding down our state visit here in Egypt, we took time to tour the Great Pyramids of Giza. These ancient structures, built nearly 5,000 years ago, are one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World,” he wrote.
President Hichilema expressed admiration for how Egypt has preserved these heritage sites, benefiting from tourism, and drew inspiration from the Egyptian ingenuity and vision in construction.
“This same mindset is being applied in the building of Egypt’s new Administrative Capital,” he noted, reaffirming Zambia’s commitment to advancing infrastructure projects in collaboration with Egypt.
The president described the visit as productive, outlining potential advancements in agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, and energy.
He also praised the over 40 Zambian companies that participated in the Egypt-Zambia business forum.

“We call on citizens to continue praying for our efforts to bring further prosperity to Zambia,” he said.
On Monday, February 25, 2025, President Hichilema visited Egypt’s Veterinary Serum and Vaccine Research Institute in Cairo. Established in 1903, the institute has been instrumental in improving veterinary vaccines and diagnostic reagents.
“Eradicating livestock diseases is key to accessing export markets, and this institute’s expertise is crucial to our success,” he wrote, emphasizing the importance of local partnerships for advancing animal health.
The president also encouraged Egyptian investors to consider Zambia, highlighting the country’s strategic position, young population, and favorable conditions for agriculture and industrial development.
