President Hichilema appoints Major General Zyeele as new Zambia Army commander (See others)

President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed Major-General, Geoffrey Zyeele, as the new Zambia Army Commander, succeeding Lt Gen Sitali Alibuzwi, whose contract was not renewed.

In the same announcement, Brigadier General, Luswepo Sinyinza, was promoted to Major General and appointed Deputy Army Commander.

Additionally, Romas Kamanga, was named Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation, and Alfred Musemuna, appointed High Commissioner-designate to Kenya.

During the swearing-in ceremony held at State House in Lusaka on Thursday, Hichilema emphasized the significant responsibilities the new appointees would face amidst the country’s climate change challenges.

“You will be expected to perform your roles diligently,” he urged.

State House Chief Communications Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, noted that these appointments and promotions were made under the provisions of Article 91(1) and Article 92(2)(e) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.

He also conveyed the President’s best wishes for success and divine blessings for the new appointees in their respective roles.
