Preparations for the forthcoming Lwanza traditional ceremony has started with the Chief expressing confidence of a high turnout.
The traditional ceremony is celebrated among the Lundwe People of Chief Hamusonde in Bweengwa area of Monze District in Southern Province.
It is a time when Lundwe People of Bweengwa of Chief Hamusonde celebrate their animal wealth and pay homage to their ancestral spirits that are believed to be the magically created Lwanza River.
This is according to a statement issued by the 2023 Lwanza traditional ceremony Publicity Chairperson, Mike Munkombwe, on Tuesday in Lusaka.
Chief Hamusonde said so far, 18 Chiefs from within Southern Province and beyond have confirmed participation at this year’s Lwanza Traditional Ceremony slated for August 11 to August 13, 2023.
“This year’s event will be unique as people will not only be paying homage to their ancestors and the displaying their animal wealth but also celebrating the first anniversary of Lwanza Traditional Ceremony’s gazette,” Chief Hamusonde said.
