Inspector General of Police, Graphel Musamba, has warned that persons planning to cause havock during former president Edgar Lungu’s eligibility judgment would be met with the full wrath of the law.

Musamba said police have received credible intelligence that certain individuals were planning to cause disturbances during the proceedings.

He said in view of this, the public should refrain from flocking to the court premises, warning that those found engaging in such activities would be dealt with according to the law.

“The Zambia Police Service is fully prepared to ensure that law and order is maintained across the country,” Musamba stated.

Musamba appealed to all peace-loving citizens to go about their daily activities responsibly and to follow the court proceedings from the comfort of their homes or other appropriate locations.

“The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform members of the public that the Constitutional Court proceedings scheduled for December, 10, 2024, involving the former President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, will be broadcast live,” he said.

Musamba called on Zambians to remain calm, respect the judicial process, and contribute to maintaining peace and unity in the country.
