Police in Kalulushi investigate rape ordeal, launch manhunt for 7 suspects

Police in Kalulushi have launched a manhunt for seven men who reportedly beat and raped a woman in her late thirties.

In statement on Tuesday, Copperbelt Police Chief, Peacewell Mweemba, said 38-year-old women of Kalulushi was raped by seven men on her way home.

Police, according to Mweemba received a case of rape which happened on Saturday around 22: 00 hours in Pilala area of Kalulushi.

“The woman was raped by seven men whom she can identify if seen but we have carried on investigations,” he said.

The woman sustained painful private parts, shoulder, bruises on the left side of the eye.

Mweemba said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was going home from the bar where she worked as a bar lady with two other men.

He said the attackers later ran away and while the victim managed to walk home and informed her sister who advised her to report the matter to the police.
