Police arrests four suspects over burglary at Muvi Television

The Zambia police have formally charged four suspects in the Muvi Television theft which took place this week.

The four suspects have been formally charged and arrested with the offence of Breaking into a Building and Committing a Felony therein contrary to section 301 charpter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

This is according to a statement issued on Thursday by Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale in Lusaka.

“The four, who include two security guards from a named security firm providing security at Muvi Television Station, have been identified as Kambani Kapila aged 43, Kampamba Mwape aged 23, Kelvin Kambila aged 22 all of Ngombe compound and Shownslous Mwanza aged 25 of Kabanana Compound,” Mwale said.

According to Mwale, the four suspects remain in Police custody awaiting court appearance.

Unknown criminals this week ransacked the Muvi TV Newsroom, getting away with editing suits, computers and Television sets.

The theft is believed to have happened on Saturday morning, as members of staff who arrived early noticed missing Television sets from the reception.

A further search revealed that another TV set was stolen from the marketing department and the entire Newsroom was wiped clean of all equipment.

It is not yet clear how the suspects managed to gain entry into the premises and walking away unnoticed.

Meanwhile, Mwale said police had apprehended three more suspects in connection with the Malicious Damage to Property involving Capital Bus Services (Flash buses) which were damaged on December 18, 2022 in Lusaka

“The three suspects have been identified as Barthlomel Chiwala aged 17, Dickson Phiri aged 21 and Teddy Mwanza also aged 21 all of Mandevu compound in Lusaka.

“All the four suspects are detained in custody while a manhunt for the other accomplices is still ongoing,” Mwale said.
