Police in Lusaka have arrested two Ministry of Health officials based at the University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) for theft by public servant .
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, said a female Human Resource officer and a male Assistant Procurement officer, aged 37 and 40, respectively were alleged to have stolen 40 boxes containing latex gloves from UTH on October 16, 2023.
Mwale said this in a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday.
“It is alleged that the suspects took the boxes to Intercity Bus Terminus where they were discovered by one of the Ministry of Health Security personnel who was tipped by a concerned member of the public,” he said.
Mwale said the suspects were apprehended and handed over to Police around 20:00 hours.

“During interrogations, they could not immediately explain why they took the boxes to Intercity Bus Terminus,” he said.
Mwale said the value of the stolen property was yet to be established and both suspects are detained in custody awaiting court appearance.
