The Zambia Police Service has arrested 434 suspects in an ongoing operation targeting criminal groups attacking members of the public.
Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, stated that the operation had been expanded to cover areas including Kafue Road, Panganani Road and Kabwe Roundabout, known hotspots for criminal activity.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hamoonga revealed that police horses and sniffer dogs were deployed to track down suspects, even in concealed locations such as drainages.

“From the start of this operation to date, a total of 434 individuals have been apprehended,” he said.
He emphasized that the Police Service remained committed to removing criminal elements from the streets and compounds, ensuring public safety.
“We urge all law-abiding citizens to carry on with their normal activities. This operation specifically targets those who pose a threat to security,” Hamoonga added.
He called on the public to support and cooperate with law enforcement to maintain safe communities, promising continued efforts until all criminal elements are eradicated.
This followed the successful apprehension of 136 suspected junkies on September 19, 2024.
