Community Action Against Corruption has urged Members of Parliament to reject and not entertain the proposed debate for the reintroduction of the Ministry of Religious Affairs when it is tabled in Parliament this week.
Organisation Chief Executive Officer, Brightone Tembo, in a statement issued in Lusaka on Sunday said this was because the Ministry proved to be of no Christian value when it existed.
Tembo pointed out that when this Ministry was in existence, it failed to live up to its expectation and it also failed to protect innocent Zambians from the brutality of the Patriotic Front (PF) government and unprecedented corruption in the country.
He said the people who Introduced that Ministry were politicking and had no intention of upholding moral and christian values, but only had the intention of portraying a picture that they were a God/fearing leadership and yet, they never showed any christian values in their leadership.
“Many Zambians lost their lives under the PF regime and yet the Ministry of Religious Affairs, failed to provide counsel and guidance to the PF leadership to stop brutalising and killing opposition political supporters and Zambians,” Tembo said.

He said the people who were advocating for the reintroduction of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, must Know that, Zambians were Christians and God fearing people not because of the Ministry.
“Zambians should also be reminded that, this country, witness a lot of attrocities when this Ministry was created, than it did before this Ministry was created, hence it served no purpose,” Tembo said.
He argued that reintroducing the Ministry was another attempt by arrogant people to continue mocking God and opening the wounds of assault, dehumanisation and Killings, which Zambians went through under the watch of the dysfunctional Ministry of Religious Affairs.
