Ex-President Edgar Lungu is not in any way influencing delay in holding a general conference for the Patriotic Front (PF).

According to PF vice president, Given Lubinda, the general conference had been delayed by unpreparedness of the members.

Lubinda also mentioned that the ex-President was also free to apply for presidency.

“It is within his rights that the central committee of the party is not going to stand and block him,” he said in a telephone interview on Tuesday.

Lubinda stated that the decision to have a general conference after losing power in 2021 was made in a haste with a lot of emotions.

He said reality had now dawned, hence the delay in having the extraordinary general conference.

“There are a lot of things that the PF needed to consider before announcing the issue of having a general conference but things were done in a hurry because of emotions.

“There is no one delaying the general conference, actually we are in a hurry to have it so that things would revert to normal,” he said.
