The Edgar Lungu-led Patriotic Front (PF) has cautioned two of its Members of Parliament, Andrew Lubusha (Chipangali) and Davison Mungandu (Chama South), warning them that disparaging former President Lungu’s administration may jeopardise their political futures.
During President Hakainde Hichilema’s visit to Eastern Province for the Malaila Traditional Ceremony, both MPs reportedly received him.
Emmanuel Mwamba, PF Chairperson for Information and Publicity, criticised the lawmakers, particularly Mungandu, for allegedly using the occasion to belittle the previous government.
Mwamba condemned Mungandu’s claim that “load shedding would have been worse under the previous President,” urging the MPs to refrain from such “shameful conduct” while seeking favors from Hichilema.

He reminded them that Zambians were aware of the challenges under Hichilema’s administration, asserting that in three years, the President had “literally run the country aground.”
Mwamba pointed out that Hichilema inherited US$3.1 billion in foreign reserves and 1.5 million metric tonnes of maize reserves, along with low prices for food and fuel.
Mwamba also highlighted the infrastructure achievements of the PF, including the construction of schools, hospitals, roads and airports, while noting that the PF’s external debt rose from US$2.8 billion in 2011 to US$11.9 billion by 2021.
He concluded by stating that the current debt had now reached US$14.7 billion, alongside a rise in domestic debt to K236 billion.
