PF still limping, as Mafinga lawmaker, Chabinga, dismisses expulsion by another factional leader, Sampa

Mafinga Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament, Robert Chabinga, has dismissed his alleged expulsion, along with other MPs, by faction leader Miles Sampa, calling the move illegitimate.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Chabinga, who leads a third PF faction, accused Sampa of lacking the authority to expel members, arguing that he himself had been expelled from the party.

“Mr. Sampa, having already been expelled from the party, has no locus standi to dictate or expel anyone else. It is regrettable that he chooses to engage in actions that betray the very values of unity and discipline he claims to uphold,” Chabinga stated.

He described Sampa’s actions as contemptuous and sub judice, citing an ongoing Constitutional Court case in which PF Secretary General Morgan Ng’ona has sued the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Attorney General over Sampa’s expulsion.

Chabinga accused Sampa of attempting to sell the party to the highest bidder, while his faction remained focused on the PF’s developmental agenda and providing alternatives to the ruling party.

“We are working hard to ensure that the PF becomes a platform for progressive ideas to advance Zambia’s development agenda,” he said.

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to dialogue, reconciliation, and unity, insisting that legitimate PF voices must not be silenced.

“PF is an open church, and we remain ready to forge links with progressive forces in the nation,” Chabinga said.

Sampa reportedly expelled five MPs and two officials, including Sunday Chanda (Kanchibiya), Anthony Mumba (Kantanshi), Andrew Lubusha (Chipangali), Elias Daka (Msanzala), and Lundazi Council Chairperson Gideon Tembo, for alleged gross misconduct.
