PF: Plot to expel Sampa over alleged misconduct thickens. Here’s what we know so far

The Patriotic Front (PF) in Matero Constituency has petitioned the party Central Committee to expel area Member of Parliament, Miles Sampa, for gross misconduct and dividing the party structures.

The petition came in the wake of Sampa’s continued calls to hold a general conference to elect the party president who would in turn appoint office bearers such as the Secretary-General and avoid electing people from other parties to key positions.

Zambia Monitor reported that Sampa said the party had been hijacked by those from the former ruling party, the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD).

He had accused Nakacinda of being an impostor and stealing his personal K200,000 nomination fee.

Following these developments, Matero Constituency PF Chairperson, Lee Mukupa, presented the petition to newly appointed Party Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda in Lusaka on Wednesday at the party Secretariat.

“According to the Patriotic Front (PF) party constitution, Sampa violated article 74 clause 39. Hence, we await the decision from the Central Committee,” he said.

Mukupa said all the five wards and Matero leadership have overwhelmingly resolved to have Sampa expelled before he caused more damage to the party.

Receiving the petition, Nakacinda promised to table the issue before the Central Committe in order to allow Sampa to be heard before a final decision can be made.

He said as Secretary General of the party, he would not spend most of the time on trivial matters but on things which would build the party through inculcating the sense of unity, discipline and love among members.

“We need to continue with the discipline which we have adopted and tolerance to similar attacks like what Sampa wanted to do when he broke into the Secretariat, if we could have reacted violently, we would have been labeled violent as per the plans of Sampa’s pay masters and the cadres he came with,” Nakacinda said.

He thanked the Lusaka Province party leadership, led by Mandevu Constituency Member of Parliament Christopher Shakafuswa for welcoming him and promised to deliver according to their expectations through hardwork, bravery, sacrifice and victory in 2026.

“I have seen that there is a debate around our appointment has generated certain feelings because of misconceptions, I don’t think that somebody being appointed to a certain position is an achievement, the Bible says greater is the end of the matter than the beginning, you maybe clapping to early or too late,” Nakacinda said.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Copperbelt Province Chairperson, Sturdy Mwale, alleged that the new dawn government was arresting certain senior members in order to silence the party.

Mwale said there was need for members to remain united, show loyalty and avoid in fighting as it would weaken the party.
