PF crises fester, as Lusaka High Court halts Ng’ona’s extraordinary general conference

The Lusaka High Court has issued a decisive injunction preventing the Morgan Ng’ona faction from holding its extraordinary general conference scheduled for August 11.

The injunction followed an urgent application by PF faction president, Miles Sampa, who sought judicial intervention to block Ng’ona from conducting any party-related activities until the legal dispute over his expulsion was resolved.

Justice Conceptor Chinyawa-Zulu granted the interim injunction, prohibiting Ng’ona or his representatives from holding any elective meetings.

The court’s order states: “It is hereby ordered and directed that the plaintiff, Morgan Ng’ona, by himself, his servants, agents, or whomever described, is hereby restrained from holding any elective meeting, including the extraordinary general conference scheduled for August 11, 2024.”

The dispute centers on Ng’ona’s lawsuit against Sampa, arguing that Sampa’s dissolution of the central committee was unauthorised and, therefore, illegal.

Ng’ona seeks a court declaration that Sampa’s decisions, made without proper ratification, are invalid.

In a counterclaim, Sampa is challenging his expulsion.

The court, after reviewing the affidavit and considering the defendant’s commitment to comply with potential court orders regarding damages, had firmly suspended all elective meetings led by Ng’ona or his affiliates.
