A 39-year-old pastor from Kanyama compound, Lusaka, has been abducted by five suspected criminals at his church in John Laing compound.
The incident occurred on July 14, 2024, around 18:30 hours at Miracle Center of Fire International Ministries.
Police rescued the pastor and arrested two individuals connected to the abduction.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday.
Investigations revealed that Pastor Owen Silozi received a phone call from a female congregant, requesting him to meet at the church premises.
Upon arrival, he was met by four men who forced him into a building and later into a vehicle.
Witnesses reported seeing a white Toyota Allion speeding off towards Kafue Road.
The suspects demanded K10,000 from the pastor’s wife.
Police, alerted to the situation, managed to rescue the pastor around 07:00 hours on July 15, 2024, in Kanyama compound.
Silozi was found with a deep cut on his head.
Two suspects, including the caller, Josephine Changwe, aged 58, were arrested.
The investigation led officers to a house in Makeni Villa, where another suspect, Kennedy Mubanga, aged 25, was arrested.
A manhunt for the remaining three suspects, identified as Musonda Mushili, Emmanuel, and Maureen Mwitumwa, has been launched.
