Patriots for Economic Progress (PEP) president, Sean Tembo, has filed a lawsuit in the Lusaka High Court against Zambia Police Luapula Division Commissioner, Mwala Yuyi, and three United Party for National Development (UPND) officials.
Tembo alleged that he was violently assaulted by UPND members, Trevor Mwiinde, Matomola Lilwanya, and Roy Makayi during the Kawambwa Central by-election on December 20, 2024.
He claimed the attack involved a metal bar and a knife, leaving him with serious injuries.
In his lawsuit, Tembo accuses the defendants of battery and is seeking compensation for the physical and emotional harm he endured.
He is also asking the court for a permanent injunction to prevent further threats, violence, or violations of his civil and political rights.
Additionally, Tembo alleged that Commissioner Mwala Yuyi failed to protect him during the attack, despite reporting the incident.
He further claimed that Yuyi pointed a pistol at him when he refused to leave the Commissioner’s office.
