Economic and Equity Party (EPP) president, Chilufya Tayali, has been found with a case to answer in a matter he is accused of inciting the defence force to turn against the State.
Tayali, however, denied the charge.
Lusaka Magistrate, Kelvin Soma, on Tuesday, found Tayali with a case to answer.

“I am satisfied that the prosecution has established a prima facie case against the accused and I accordingly place him on his defence,” he ruled.
Tayali begins his defence on February 14, 2024 and is expected to call one witness.
On unknown dates but between March 1, and April 4, 2022 in Lusaka, Tayali was alleged to have attempted to seduce persons serving in the defence forces from their duty and allegiance to the President by writing on his Facebook page to which he said “I do not remember advocating for the defence forces, because they have always been paid on time, but now, they are calling on me to speak for them, it is a shame.
“These guys keep our security, you can be frustrating them or trying their patience,” he reportedly said.
