The Bridge Consortium Ltd (TBC) and the African School of Economics (ASE) have announced plans to establish a Pan-African Best-in-Class University Campus in Mwinilunga district of North-Western Province.
This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 25, 2023 in San Francisco, California of the United States of America.
The MOU outlines a framework for formal co-operation and partnership between the Parties to establish a Pan-African University in the Gaius Legacy Farm Block in Chief Kakoma’s area in Mwinilunga.
The University will cater for faculties in Economics, Management, Science and Engineering, to include mining and agriculture with the overarching goal of improving human capital, fostering productivity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, inclusive and sustainable development.
The University will be built on 772 hectares of land in the Gaius Legacy farm Block, with a target market that will include Zambia, and neighbouring countries such as Angola, the DRC and the rest of sub-Saharan Africa.
Executive Chairperson, Gaius King, said the Campus will be the anchor University in the Gaius Legacy Farm Block in Mwinilunga District, Chief Kakoma’s Area.
“Leveraging on the global repute of the ASE, the university campus will comprise state-of-the-art infrastructure, tailor-made and cutting-edge curriculum and applied research to foster entrepreneurship and innovation”, King said.
The African School of Economics President, Leonard Wantchekon, said Zambia particularly North-Western Province with its strategic positioning in the region, presents the right parameters and environment for establishing the campus.

“The Gaius Legacy Farm block comprises of holistic supporting services and infrastructure that include education, health, and telecoms, among others,” Wantchekon said.
He said this would create a model for sustainable urban development that embodies innovation, inclusivity, and economic growth, by setting a new standard for smart farming blocks in Africa.
Wantchekon said this partnership comes on the back of the MOU signing between the Bridge Consortium and the Charter Cities Institute on May 17, 2023.
