Patriotic Front (PF) youth chairperson Christopher Kang’ombe has said the benchmark for leadership must be raised to ensure that representatives are worthy of the description “effective public servant”.
“The biggest tragedy in most countries is that anyone with the courage to speak in front of people, sing a campaign song and make one or two donations is considered a very good leader,” he posted on his official social media handle.
The Nkana law maker said the idea should not be to understand the problems affecting the public, but to be able to articulate them and influence the systems and processes that would eventually generate positive results.

He remained optimistic that Zambians with the integrity, the skills set and understanding of what needs to be done would offer themselves for public office.
“I share these reflections as I continue reading about what it took for developed countries to reach the great milestones attained so far,” Kang’ombe said.
