Christian Democratic Party (CDP) leader, Danny Pule, has vowed to fight economic injustice, poverty and unemployment as he insists on being on the presidential ballot in 2026.

“Our Party truly aims at being guided by equitable access to basic needs and essential goods and we will leave nothing to chance in ensuring that people and the nation are not stripped of access to enjoyment of our natural resources,” Pule said.

He said during a press briefing in Kitwe on Saturday that his party would ensure that moral depravity such as gays and lesbianism and other similar vices were not allowed in Zambia.

Pule, a Reverend said Zambia, as a Christina nation should not attempt to support vices that were repugnant to the country’s moral culture values.

“It is clear to the nation that President Hakainde Hichilema and the ruling party have failed to keep the election promises such as reduced cost of mealie-meal, fuel prices, electricity, jobs for the youths, unity in the country and have clearly abandoned our Christian and cultural values,” he said.

He said it was also clear that the government has failed to manage the economy as can be seen by the failure to supply agricultural inputs in time and the escalating cost of living.

“The economy is in a poorer state now than it was at the beginning of the United Party for National Development (UPND) government. Further, our country has never been more divided than it is now as can be seen by presidential appointments,” Pule said.

“We cannot allow the high cost of living in the country to continue as it is at present. The poverty levels are now higher than ever before since Zambia obtained her Independence. It is also notable that foreigners have been preferred to Zambians in the awarding of contracts, mining licenses and investment incentives,” he said.

The ‘man of the collar’ accused President Hichilema of abandoning and neglecting the Zambians who voted for him in 2022 as he predicted that the UPND was likely to lose the 2026 presidential and general elections.

“As CDP we shall from now on position ourselves to win the 2026 presidential and general elections by the grace of God,” Pule said.
