American artiste, Omari Grandberry, known professionally as Omarion, has encouraged musicians to embrace cultural exchange through their talents.

Speaking in Lusaka on Thursday at the Stanbic Bank headquarters during a press briefing ahead of the 2024 Stanbic Music Festival (SMF), Omarion highlighted the unique opportunities artistes have to experience and share while traveling across different countries and cultures.

“Our talents allow us to travel and experience unique qualities in different countries, which we can share with others. Coming together can be a way to exchange our cultures,” he said.

Taalib Johnson, better known as Musiq Soulchild, echoed this sentiment, encouraging Zambian musicians to learn from those who have achieved success in the industry.

“I’m excited to hopefully inspire the artistes we’ll be sharing the stage with,” Musiq Soulchild remarked.

Kangwa Chileshe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Arts, urged local artistes to draw inspiration from international performers like Omarion and Musiq Soulchild, stressing the potential of music to break barriers and foster meaningful connections.

“Music transcends boundaries and connects people across cultures,” Chileshe stated.

Stanbic Bank Chief Financial Officer, Mizimo Musokotwane, praised the event’s role in bridging the gap between Zambia’s local music industry and the international stage since 2014.

“We’re delighted to welcome Omarion and Musiq Soulchild, alongside six local artistes, to this year’s festival,” Musokotwane said.
