The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ) has launched investigations into allegations of unprofessional conduct by some nurses and midwives who reportedly confessed to negligence in a social media skit.
The skit, titled “We listen, we do not judge, nurse’s edition,” was posted on a Facebook page and featured practitioners openly admitting to instances of negligence in their service delivery.
NMCZ Public Relations Officer, Mailesi Banda, confirmed the investigation in a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday, saying the conduct of the alleged practitioners contravened the Code of Ethics for Nurses and Midwives in Zambia.
“The confessions made by the alleged practitioners were against the code of ethics for nurses and midwives in Zambia. This unprofessional behaviour has brought disrepute to the integrity of the nursing and midwifery profession,” Banda stated.

She stated that disciplinary action would be taken against all individuals involved in the challenge, adding that the profession’s integrity depends on strict adherence to ethical and professional standards.
“The conduct of the alleged professionals breached the Code of Ethics for Nurses and Midwives, who are obligated to uphold professionalism in their conduct and service delivery,” Banda said.
Banda urged members of the public to report any complaints related to negligence by nurses and midwives directly to the NMCZ for appropriate action.
