Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Rose Sakala, has raised concerns about the growing number of Zambian travelers encountering difficulties at Bole International Airport due to improper entry visas.
Sakala urged Zambians traveling to Ethiopia to adhere to the Ethiopian government’s immigration procedures to avoid any inconvenience at the port of entry.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday, Sakala, who also serves as Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), emphasized the need for timely visa applications.

“All Zambian nationals traveling to Ethiopia must apply for a visa online at least three working days before departure and ensure they receive approval before travel,” the Ambassador stated.
She noted that the Ethiopian government no longer issues visas on arrival, underscoring the importance of securing an approved visa before beginning the journey.
