Nigerian Afrobeat star Davido has wedded his long-time partner, Chioma Rowland, in a lavish event attended by the crème de la crème of the entertainment industry and other top dignitaries.

According to multiple news outlets, the event, held on Tuesday at Harbour Point in the Victoria Island area of Lagos State, marked the culmination of years of friendship and, as expected, generated buzz on social media.

The wedding took place a fortnight after Davido confirmed his marriage to the chef. On Sunday, the superstar posted their pre-wedding photos to set the tone for one of the most anticipated events in Nigeria’s entertainment circle, tagging it #Chivido2024.

As expected, the pictures caused a wild stir on social media, with the internet flooded with congratulatory messages for the Nigerian celebrity couple.

There was a perfect build-up to the highly anticipated event, especially on Nigerian social media platforms, with Tuesday finally being the day the duo tied the knot.

Fans and celebrities alike shared photos and videos from the colorful event, wishing the newlyweds a happy married life.

Predictably, Davido’s grand wedding event was attended by dignitaries from different walks of life. A former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel; ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo; Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State; his Ogun State counterpart, Dapo Abiodun; and Senator Daisy Danjuma of Edo South were all among the VIPs that attended the event.

The president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, also attended. Entertainment industry peers like Patoranking, singer Rudeboy, and others graced the occasion, which had TV host Ebuka Uchendu as the compere.

Chioma’s friendship with Davido dates back several years, but their relationship only became official in 2018 when the singer confirmed it.

In 2019, Davido confirmed the relationship again, and photos of their introduction ceremony hit social media. In September 2019, Davido proposed to Chioma at a private ceremony.

Their wedding was expected to happen in 2020 but was reportedly postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rumors of Chioma being pregnant made headlines that same year, a claim that was denied.

However, in October, they welcomed a boy named Ifeanyi. Sadly, in November 2022, the child died in a home accident just as he turned three.

In October 2023, after much speculation, the Grammy nominee and Chioma welcomed a set of twins.
