Break Free Alliance, an organization that advocates for sexual reproductive health has observed the need to manage information gap in the dissemination of sexual reproductive health services among the youths.
Organization Country Coordinator, Wilbroad Kampolwa, said the dissemination of sexual reproductive health services can help reduce teen pregnancies, which are on the rise in various communities.
Kampolwa spoke to Zambia Monitor in Lusaka on Sunday.
He explained that illiteracy and negative social cultural norms such as the perception on the use of the modern contraceptives are not appreciated in most rural communities contributing to teen pregnancies.

“The increased reported number of teen pregnancies could be another way of knowing that people are now aware of the challenge,” Kampolwa said.
He said that even though various stakeholders had continued with the sensitisation in various communities, there was still information gap as a result of several factors.
“We are left behind because of several factors such as illiteracy, resistance to Sexual Reproductive Health services, negative traditional norms among others,” Kampolwa said.
