The Ndola Teaching Hospital (NTH) has undergone some transformation with the completion of a K6.2 million refurbishment project funded by the government.
This renovation, commissioned on Friday by Copperbelt Minister, Elisha Matambo, marked a crucial step in upgrading the hospital’s infrastructure and services.
In his address during the commissioning, Matambo highlighted government’s commitment to improving healthcare facilities across the region.
“We have been strategically allocating funds to critical projects to ensure that the hospital meets the highest standards of care and efficiency,” he stated.
The K6.2 million allocated for this project was divided into three main areas of focus.
These included extensive renovations to both the exterior and interior of the hospital, painting and upgrading premium wards, installing a new digital fluoroscopy X-ray machine, and rehabilitating key areas such as the main theatre and the mortuary.
Additionally, the project addressed long-standing issues such as roof leakages, which have been problematic during the rainy season.
These repairs are expected to significantly enhance patient comfort and operational efficiency at the hospital.
Matambo emphasized that these upgrades were in line with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision for timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality outcomes in public projects.
The refurbishment at Ndola Teaching Hospital is part of a larger initiative that includes similar upgrades at Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) and Kalulushi General Hospital.
Matambo expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the Ndola project and urged the hospital management to maintain the high standards set by the recent upgrades.
