Patriotic Front (PF) Deputy Information and Publicity Chairperson, Emmanuel Mwamba, has reported three Police Officers to the Police Complaints Commission (PCC) for assaulting him at Lewanika Mall last week.

Addressing Journalists at a joint briefing of opposition leaders on Sunday in Lusaka, Mwamba said he will on Monday formally lodge a complaint at the Police Public Complaints Commission (PCC) against the three Officers who assaulted him for unprofessional conduct.

He lamented that the officers denied him access to communicate with his lawyers Makebi Zulu and Advocates and family when he was initially detained at Police Headquarters and later moved to Emmasdale Police Station.

Mwamba is saddened with the silence of the international community particularly the US Embassy and British High Commission over the recent happenings in the nation.

“They bundled me in the car and the lead officer told me that you we will sort you out, you think you are clever so they sped off, took me to force headquarters and left me there for two hours then they came to do the interrogation and later took me to the car wash again, they were very annoyed when they didn’t find a car I had left there after the dandled me,” he said.

He said while at the Police Station, he made a complaint about the pain he was feeling in his neck, pain in the leg and leg joints. However, this he said fell on deaf ear as he was later dragged to Emmasdale Police Station.

Mwamba alleged he was locked up in a Police cell together with women that was extremely congested with people with different illnesses who have been locked up there for some time for committing various offences.

“Now the Police Officer have just beaten and brutalized wan me, can I get their medicine, can I trust their medicine so they said I should take the pain killer so I got it and threw it away and finally, how do I know if it was poison,” he said.

Mwamba who had one of tooth knocked out in the process of arresting him said the Police are trying to scandalize him through using one of the officers to report that he had punched one of them during the arrest.
