The Zambia Police have arrested and detained 24-year-old Samuel Himwaba, who is suspected of murdering his wife, 21-year-old Maureen Chama, from Marapodi Township in Lusaka.
Himwaba was apprehended in Solwezi, a mining town where he had fled after the incident.
Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday.
“The Zambia Police Service informs the public that the suspect in the murder of Maureen Chama has been apprehended,” Hamoonga said.

The suspect was tracked and arrested on December 29, 2024, through coordinated efforts by the Zambia Police.
Hamoonga expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation in providing information that helped in the arrest.
“The suspect is currently in custody and will face charges as per the law,” he added, reaffirming the police’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.
