Munir is Kazier’s surety in a matter in which the latter is charged with two counts of failure to surrender his Diplomatic Passport and to appear before the nearest immigration officer .

Kazier is expected to open his defence in the matter.

When the matter came up on Thursday, for return of bench warrant, Munir explained he could not appear in court with the other surety, Mulenga Fube, because he was unwell and admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).

He produced a sick note as proof of his inability to appear before court.

Munir, however, told Magistrate Munyinya, that he could locate the accused, Kazier.

“I engaged private people to locate Kaizer Zulu. I still believe that given the chance, we can still locate Kaizer Zulu,” he said.

Magistrate Munyinya gave the applicant a benefit of doubt and discharged the warrant of arrest leading to his release from detention.

Munir had been in detention since last Friday, after Chief Resident Magistrate, Davies Chibwili, revoked his bail for abscording court sessions in a matter he is charged for defaming two cabinet ministers.

Magistrate Chibwili on Tuesday granted Munir K200, 000 bail in his own recognizance.
