Mporokoso lawmaker, Brian Mundubile, has accused the UPND government of being selective in its road infrastructure development since coming to power in 2021.
Mundubile expressed disappointment that certain roads in Northern Province, such as the Mporokoso-Kawambwa and Nsama to Kaputa, have been neglected.
Speaking at a media briefing at Fatimols Lodge in Lusaka, he stated the importance of these roads, which have either been terminated or left unattended.
He highlighted a disparity in funding, citing the Monze-Nico Road, which was initially constructed under the PF government at a cost of K370 million but was later awarded for rehabilitation at a significantly higher cost of K940 million.
“One would expect that the Nsama to Kaputa road will be worked on urgently since the Vice President Mutale Nalumango comes from Kaputa. The Vice President will be required to go and canvass for votes in such areas; how will she convince people?” Mundubile said.
He expressed concern over the significant differences in funding for road construction projects under the UPND government, asserting that this should change as the government implements the K217 billion 2025 national budget.
Mundubile reiterated the need for leaders, including the Vice President, to prioritize development projects in their hometowns.
