Isoka Member of Parliament, Majory Nakaponda, has sued former Kabushi lawmaker, Bowman Lusambo, in the Lusaka High Court, seeking a refund of K375,000 after a failed house purchase.
Nakaponda claimed she paid Lusambo for a house in Silverest, Chongwe, but never received the property.
She is demanding a full refund, damages for breach of contract, interest, legal costs, and any other relief the court deems fit.
According to court documents, Nakaponda and Lusambo agreed on April 28, 2024, to a K600,000 sale price for the house. She made partial payments totaling K375,000 and contacted Lusambo on June 5, 2024, to settle the balance and complete the transaction.
However, she alleged that he became unresponsive, ignoring her calls and messages.
After multiple failed attempts to reach him, Nakaponda issued a demand letter on October 14, 2024, requesting a refund.
Despite allegedly promising to repay the money, Lusambo did not fulfill his commitment.
Nakaponda argues that Lusambo’s actions have caused her financial loss and emotional distress.
The lawsuit comes as Lusambo serves a four-year prison sentence for corruption at Mwembeshi Maximum Security Prison.
