“Embracing eco-tourism is vital for the resilience of our tourism sector. By preserving natural resources and empowering communities, we ensure future generations continue to enjoy our landscapes and wildlife,”Muhanga stated in a statement issued in Lusaka on Sunday.
The Permanent Secretary further noted that eco-tourism aligned with Zambia’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in environmental sustainability, poverty alleviation, and job creation.
He urged tour operators, lodges, and community tourism enterprises to adopt eco-friendly practices, support community-driven conservation efforts, and promote responsible tourism.
Reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment, Muhanga assured stakeholders of policy support, capacity-building initiatives, and strategic partnerships to foster eco-tourism development.
He also encouraged tourists to make environmentally conscious choices and support businesses committed to sustainability.
