Manchester City secured a dominant 4-0victory over Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Thursday, narrowing the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Phil Foden netted twice in the first half, the first goal coming from a deflected free-kick, while Kevin De Bruyne scored his first headed Premier League goal to give City the lead.

Despite Erling Haaland’s absence due to injury, Julian Alvarez added a fourth goal as City extended their unbeaten streak to 18 Premier League matches and 30 in all competitions.

The win propelled City two points ahead of Liverpool and within one point of Arsenal with a game in hand, putting them in a strong position to retain their title.

Meanwhile, Brighton remained in the bottom half of the table with 44 points, having been overtaken by AFC Bournemouth.

While City dominated, Brighton’s late appeal for a penalty was denied, and they missed a chance for a consolation goal as they fell to a defeat.
