Lusambo, ex-Lusaka minister, Lusambo, wife face arrest for failure to appear in court

Former Lusaka Province minister, Bowman Lusambo, and his wife Nancy face arrest after the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court issued a bench warrant for their failure to appear in court.

The couple is charged with concealing property suspected to be proceeds of crime, tax evasion, and conspiracy to defraud.

Despite being required to appear in court on wednesday, neither the accused nor their sureties were present, prompting the State to describe their conduct as unacceptable.

The court granted the application for a bench warrant, returnable on June 18.

The defense lawyer’s attempt to explain the absence was unsuccessful in stopping the issuance of the warrant.”
