The Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone (LSMFEZ) has announced an operational expansion by Ferre Appliances into the Zone.

Zone Corporate Affairs Manager, Alice Schultz, said the strategic move, marked a significant milestone in the company’s vision to diversify the Zambian economy through the manufacture of home appliances.

Ferre Appliance is a manufacturer of quality household appliances, according to Schultz who revealed this in a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday.

“Located in the LSMFEZ Ferre Appliances’ new facility was equipped with state-of-the-art production lines, cutting-edge technology, and a highly skilled workforce who will facilitate knowledge transfer to Zambian employees,” Schultz said.

She said this expansion enabled the company to meet the increasing demand for its products and strengthened its commitment to delivering excellence to consumers.

Schultz said the new facility significantly boosts Ferre Appliances’ production capacity, allowing for increased output of its household appliances, including refrigerators, washing machines, ovens, and more.

“The company is currently producing 1,500 units per day with over 200 employees in South Africa. Initially, a total of 40 jobs will be created locally,” she said.

Schultz said its intent was to create an assembly facility which would be able to transfer key manufacturing skills to the Zambian workforce from their partnership with one of Turkey’s largest cooking manufacturers.

“The project is in line with the economic Zones strategic goal of job creation, wealth creation and diversification of our country’s economy.

“The facility would have a significant impact on the provision of direct and indirect employment and will allow the assembly of Electric and Gas stoves locally,” Schultz said.
