A student from Woodlands Nursing School and several other women have lost their lives in a road accident on Mosi Road in Lusaka’s Ibex area, leaving 10 other individuals injured.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, identified the student as Ruth Museteka, aged between 20 and 24, who died alongside other unidentified female passengers en route to the hospital.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Hamoonga reported that the accident involved a Toyota Hiace minibus with registration number BAJ 3856, fleet number LSK 15183.

“The vehicle, which was extensively damaged, was being driven east to west by an unidentified male driver who fled the scene after the accident,” he stated.

“The Zambia Police Service is actively pursuing all available leads to locate the driver, who is believed to have abandoned the scene,” Hamoonga added.

Among the injured were:

1. Two unidentified male adults with severe head injuries, admitted in critical condition in UTH’s ICU.
