The Lusaka Police Anti-Robbery Squad has apprehended a group of criminals involved in a series of aggravated robbery cases within the district.
On March 22, 2025, the squad acted on intelligence leading to the arrest of three key male suspects: George Simpemba (30) of Libala Stage 3, Philip Shikolola (29) of Chipata Compound, and Doleny Mukuka (28) of Chalala.
Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Monday, revealing that the trio had been involved in multiple robberies.
They allegedly used a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) minibus and small vehicles disguised as Yango taxis to lure unsuspecting passengers, particularly those traveling within the city.
At the time of their arrest, the suspects were allegedly in possession of several suspected stolen items, including:
1. 1 Infinix cellphone
2. 1 Tecno Spark cellphone
3. 1 Addo cellphone
4. 1 Itel cellphone
5. 1 Nokia cellphone
6. 1 Calus phone
7. 1 Viny phone
8. 1 Lenovo laptop
9. 1 Dell laptop

Further investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old Esther Mwanza from Chelston, who allegedly assisted the suspects in enticing victims to board the vehicles.
Police also recovered a PSV Toyota Hiace minibus, registration number AEB 37, which had been used in the criminals’ activities. The vehicle was driven by Levison Njove (28) of Chilenje.
Additionally, two individuals believed to be receiving stolen property, Gondwe Matifeyo (25) of Katungu and George Mubanga (36) of Katondo Street, were arrested.
Hamoonga confirmed that several stolen items had been positively identified by victims, and that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in multiple robberies.
“All the arrested individuals are in police custody, and further investigations are underway,” Hamoonga said.
He assured the public that the police remained committed to ensuring public safety and will continue their efforts to bring criminals to justice.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
