During the third ordinary council meeting on July 10, 2024, the Audit and Risk Committee Chairperson presented a report alleging the misappropriation of over 50,000 liters of council fuel stocks, amounting to K1.5 million, over six months from January to June 2023.

The report, presented by Councillor Mainda Simataa of Kamwala Ward, implicated several officials within the local authority.
